Sustainability

As one of the largest exhibit halls in the country in one of its most beautiful cities, keeping the “green” in Greenville is an initiative we’re proud to be a part of. And now with our expanded sustainability program, we’re able to minimize our footprint by maximizing best practices in sustainability in everything we do.

Eating

OVG Hospitality, the Greenville Convention Center’s branded food and beverage operation sources locally grown and organic food.

Shipped from Zimbabwe and grown under certified Fair Trade Practices and innovative sustainable practices, Leopard Forest Coffee Company is our exclusive provider of fresh, whole bean, farmer direct coffee.

Leftover food is donated to local charities and food banks.

Kitchen food waste is regularly composted locally, and turned into a valuable soil amendment to promote sustainable agriculture and landscaping here in South Carolina and beyond.

Cooking oil is recycled for cleaner burning fuel in diesel engines so South Carolina can breathe a little easier.

Meeting

All meeting rooms have a spring water cooler with compostable cups.

Water faucet aerators have been installed to reduce water usage.

We encourage the use of reusable, refillable bulk containers for beverages.

Compostable cups, utensils, napkins and plates are provided for food service.

Newly installed carpet in the Conference Center meets the requirements of the Carpet and Rug Institute’s Green Label Plus program.

Meeting room, ballroom, exhibit hall and parking lot lighting has been retrofitted with energy saving bulbs.

Cleaning

Green Seal approved, environmentally safe cleaning products are used to help reduce pollution in South Carolina waterways.

All hand towels meet U.S. EPA standards for post-consumer wastepaper content, and bathroom tissue is biodegradable and manufactured from 100% recycled paper.

Paper, aluminum can and plastic bottle recycling containers are placed in all office and high traffic meeting areas throughout the building for an even greener Greenville today … and tomorrow.

All pallets are recycled to a local vendor.

Everything in Between

All stationery and business cards are printed on recycled paper, and we use refilled printer toner cartridges to minimize our impact on South Carolina landfills.

All non-essential lighting, escalators and HVAC are turned off during non-event periods.

A reduced vehicle-idling program is utilized to maximize Greenville’s air quality.
