At Greenville Convention Center, we believe in the transformative power of diversity, inclusion, and opportunity. That’s why we were honored to host the 7th Annual Clemson University Men of Color Summit, an event dedicated to bridging the opportunity gap and illuminating pathways to success for African American/Black and Hispanic/Latinx males and their allies. With approximately 2,000 attendees from various backgrounds, including middle school, high school and college students, business professionals, educators, government officials, and community leaders, the summit underscored the importance of education, career development, and social engagement in increasing graduation and achievement rates.

In alignment with our mission, the Men of Color Summit addressed critical themes essential for personal and professional growth such as Career and Professional development as well as Entrepreneurship, by empowering the attendees with the tools and resources necessary to excel in their chosen fields. They touch on topics like Masculinity and Personal identity facilitating conversations about identity, self-awareness, and positive masculinity. Also, Retention Rates, Graduation, and Student Achievement by implementing strategies to support academic success and increase graduation rates. Lastly, they talk about Socia/Community Engagement, encouraging active involvement in community initiatives and social causes.

During the summit, we were honored to host esteemed keynote speakers, including Calvin Mackie, CEO of STEM-nola, who emphasized the importance of perseverance and achieving greatness, and Kenny “The Jet” Smith, a former NBA player turned sports commentator, who shared insights on leadership and resilience.

Additionally, our Career Fair provided middle school, high school, and undergraduate students with invaluable opportunities to explore various career paths in the upstate area, from law enforcement to hospitality, paving the way for future success and fulfillment.
